On May 5th , Genertec Universal Medical Group Company Limited (“Universal Medical”, HK. 2666), together with the Administration Office of Genertec Overseas Epidemic Prevention and Control Working Group (通用技术集团境外疫情防控工作组办公室), formally started Genertec Overseas Online Clinic (通用境外远程医疗诊所), where the company had the privilege to invite several reputed medical experts from China and overseas, via online lectures, to share the know-how on epidemic prevention and infection control as well as provide Q&A services on related issues for Genertec staff who stayed far beyond the sea.

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 epidemic, the Party Central Committee, the State Council as well as State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, have paid high attention to overseas epidemic prevention work of Chinese central enterprises and ordered timely and effective measures to avoid clustering occurrence, doing utmost to guarantee safety of overseas staff.

Up to 6 p.m. of May 1st , as many as 1,078 Genertec staff stuck to their posts, without any suspected or infected cases found, in overseas projects covering 34 nations and regions including Bangladesh, Myanmar, Kazakhstan and Hungary, making great contributions to the Belt and Road Initiative and overseas construction projects. Under the severe epidemic situation outside China, with great concerns on safety and health of its overseas staff, Genertec prioritized overseas epidemic prevention in present even a long future time work plans. On the meeting on Genertec Overseas Epidemic Prevention and Control, Mr. Xu Xianping, Chairman of the Board of Genertec, specially emphasized that we should leverage core competencies in medical industry to implement a distant medical system and establish a distant clinic so as to provide professional medical and psychological counseling services for overseas staff.

With this background, Genertec Overseas Epidemic Prevention and Control Working Group was finally organized and launched a general check on situation of Genertec overseas subsidiaries and project workplaces. With the assistance of Universal Medical, the Group started the clinic project and finally initiated it in just one week. The clinic project also marked the first attempt of Universal Medical to go overseas with its medical services.

Online Lecture is the first series of activities in the clinic project. Universal Medical invited several reputed experts in infection control, respiratory and critical care medicine, and Chinese traditional medicine, especially the medical team members from Pangang General Hospital, a subsidiary hospital of Universal Medical, who went to Hubei Province for medical assistance, to present topics of concern such as construction of quarantine areas, daily disinfection, individual protection, early diagnosis of Covid-19, treatment of mild cases and drug solutions. 

Dr. Luo Fengming, director of respiratory and critical care medicine department of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, is also the leader of the earliest Sichuan medical team to aid Hubei. He explained several Covid-19 related issues including early diagnosis, differential diagnosis, treatment of mild cases as well as drug solutions. 

Dr. Cao Jianchun, chief clinical physician of combination of Chinese traditional and western medicine from Dongfang Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, lectured on Covid-19 prevention know-how, storage of Chinese traditional medicine and cautions in use.

Dr. Zhou Hongyu, deputy president of Specialist Respiratory Hospital, Pangang General Hospital, Dr. Han Zhuoyue, and nurse Li Qiu, the two who went to Hubei for medical assistance, shared practical experience and methods in terms of individual protection, treatment of basic diseases and psychological adjustment and counseling.

Infection control experts from affiliated hospitals of Beijing Medical University demonstrated materials on construction of quarantine areas, daily disinfection as well as individual protection. 

At the end of the meeting, Universal Medical released its distant medical platform called Genertec Overseas Online Clinic.

The expert team on the platform, composed of almost 50 doctors from Universal Medical member hospitals including Ansteel General Hospital, Xidian Group Hospital and Pangang General Hospital, will consistently provide Genertec overseas staff with free online counseling services, psychological assistance and popularization of prevention knowledge. A distant safety curtain has been built for Genertec staff with quality medical counseling services, strong IT support and the rapid response from member hospitals.
