When AI joins shift handovers, ward rounds, outpatient consultations, and multidisciplinary consultations; when medical equipment has a “digital dossier” from procurement to decommissioning; when nursing homes, communities, and households are connected by a single digital network—the digital-intelligence transformation of healthcare is moving from concept to daily reality.

From September 22 to 24, PT EXPO CHINA 2026 was successfully held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. Yu Xiaohui, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. Yu Xubo, Chairman and Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group of Genertec; Cui Zhicheng, President and Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group; and Jia Dafeng and Yang Guolin, Vice Presidents and Members of the Leading Party Members’ Group, attended the exhibition’s related events. Chen Shisu, Deputy Chief Economist of Genertec and Chairman of the Board and Secretary of the Party Committee of Universal Medical, and Xia Qi, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Universal Medical, separately visited the Universal Medical exhibition area.

As a flagship event in the information and communications field at the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, this year’s exhibition was themed “Strengthening Networks, Prospering Computing, and Connecting Ecosystems,” comprehensively showcasing new explorations, achievements, and practices through which the information and communications industry supports AI development and empowers the digital economy.

AI Smart Hospital Exhibition Area

For physicians, the value of AI is gradually moving from a standalone assistive tool into daily workflows.

In the AI Smart Hospital exhibit, AI applications were integrated into physicians’ daily work scenarios, including shift handovers, ward rounds, outpatient consultations, multidisciplinary consultations, medical record documentation, and clinical decision support, illustrating explorations into AI applications in hospital diagnosis, treatment, and management. Addressing issues such as heavy reliance on manual experience in clinical work, insufficient intelligent analytical support for hospital operations management, and fragmented patient services, Universal Medical’s AI Smart Hospital Integrated Platform extends AI applications to intelligent triage, medical record quality control, imaging assistance, intelligent decision-making, rational drug use, and health management, providing intelligent support for medical quality control, clinical diagnosis and treatment, hospital operations, and patient services.

The platform has already been deployed in several hospitals within the Universal Medical system, helping hospitals improve quality and efficiency by shortening decision-making chains and reducing repetitive work, and providing practical exploration for the intelligent transformation of medical institutions.

From “assisting one step” to “participating in an entire workflow,” AI is becoming a new digital foundation embedded in hospitals’ daily operations.

AI + IoT: A Smart Steward for Full-Cycle Equipment Management

Exhibition Area for Intelligent Management Platform of Medical Equipment

If AI Smart Hospital focuses on how people work, Smart Medical Equipment Management focuses on how equipment within hospitals is better managed.

Medical equipment management spans the entire process of hospital procurement, diagnosis and treatment, maintenance, and operations. Under traditional management models, equipment management tends to be reactive, centered on fault repair. Universal Tech Services, under Universal Medical, has developed an innovative five-in-one service model centered on “management” and encompassing management, procurement, maintenance, utilization, and repair, integrating AI and IoT technologies into its self-developed intelligent equipment operations management platform.

From procurement justification and installation acceptance to operations maintenance and decommissioning, the platform enables closed-loop digital management of the full lifecycle of medical equipment. It also uses equipment operating data to support resource allocation, equipment utilization, and maintenance decisions, driving a shift from reactive response to proactive full-process management.

The digitalization of healthcare services is also extending beyond hospitals.

In response to increasingly diverse elderly care needs, Universal Medical Jadebird, under Universal Medical, has built a smart medical and elderly care service system covering home, community, and institutional settings for government, institutional, and individual users, digitally connecting medical, elderly care, and daily living service resources dispersed across different scenarios.

Universal Medical Jadebird’s service network now covers 24 provinces, 84 cities, and 5,442 elderly care institutions, having served a cumulative 16.01 million elderly persons. For governments, a four-tier service supervision platform spanning city, district/county, street/town, and community levels strengthens coordinated management of medical and elderly care services. For elderly care institutions, the “Huiyangtong” platform provides information systems, smart hardware, and operational services. For elderly individuals, the “Kangniannian” platform connects medical, elderly care, and daily living service resources, offering services such as home nursing, nursing home booking, medical accompaniment, age-friendly home renovations, and community meal assistance, facilitating precise matching of medical and elderly care resources.

From clinical diagnosis and hospital management to full-cycle medical equipment management and medical and elderly care services, the three scenarios showcased by Universal Medical trace a clear path of digital-intelligence technologies extending from within hospitals to the entire healthcare service chain. Digital-intelligence is not a cold overlay of technologies; it makes diagnosis and treatment more precise, management more efficient, and elderly care more accessible.

Looking ahead, Universal Medical will continue to deepen the integration and innovation of AI, big data, IoT, and other digital technologies with healthcare operations, focusing on real-world scenarios such as clinical diagnosis and treatment, hospital operations, equipment management, and medical and elderly care services. It will make AI more attuned to clinical needs, data more valuable, services more human-centered, and digital technologies progress from being “visible” to “usable” and from “usable” to “well-used.”

PT EXPO CHINA was founded by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 1990 and is known in the industry as a “barometer of industry change and a bellwether of technological evolution.” This year’s exhibition, themed “Strengthening Networks, Prospering Computing, and Connecting Ecosystems,” adopted “TECH FOR PEOPLE” as its brand proposition, presenting the latest achievements in the deep integration of the information and communications industry with AI and its empowerment of industries across the board.
