On 9 August 2018, Genertec Universal Medical Group Company Limited (“Universal Medical”, HK. 2666) entered into the cooperation agreement with the Health and Family Planning Commission of Handan and Handan First Hospital in connection with the joint establishment of the New East District of Handan First Hospital. The signing ceremony was held in Handan Zhaoshang Hotel. Mr. Wang Litong, municipal party deputy secretary and mayor, Mr. Du Shujie, deputy mayor and relevant leaders from the Health and Family Planning Commission of Handan, Handan First Hospital and Universal Medical, attended the ceremony and gave strong backing and warm expectations. The establishment of the New East District contemplated under the triple agreement, shows great significance to the improvement of Handan New East District as well as its local medical conditions.

Handan, as the gateway city of South Hebei Province and the central city surrounding by Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong and Henan Provinces, offers medical services to nearly 25 million people in the four neighboring provinces. With the promotion of a series of national healthcare reform policies, more severe diseases are expected to be cured within local level medical institutions. Second-child policy is also implemented around the country and a baby boom is expected in local area. Increasing medical services demand will arise in Handan. Handan First Hospital is a large-scale Grade A Class III comprehensive medical institution in medical treatment, training, research, prevention, healthcare and rehabilitation. Afflicted with 7 medical colleges, the hospital also functions as a reputed training base for future medical professionals. Its comprehensive strength takes the leading in local area and shoulders important responsibility for medical needs in local and surrounding area.

The New East District to be established will be a new branch of Handan First Hospital. It is expected to be a general hospital with superb skills in certain clinical departments. The total investment for the project will be RMB2 billion with construction in 2 phases. With the establishment of the five top disciplinary centers (cardiovascular disease, neuromedicine, oncotherapy, mother & child care and orthopedics), the new branch is expected to be a leading example in combination of medical care and elderly care, bringing benefits for residents in surrounding 4 provinces.
