For further healthcare resources allocation and specialty development, Yantai Port Hospital decides to initiate Stroke Project with Universal Medical Financial & Technical Advisory Services Company Limited, a subsidiary of China General Technology Group. The signing ceremony was held in the conference hall of the Hospital.

Several reputed experts were invited to the ceremony, i.e., Professor Wang Jinhuan, deputy director of China Stroke Center Management Guidance Committee, Professor Yong Qiang, director of ultrasonography, Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Mr. Che Ke, deputy director general of health department in Zhifu District, Yantai City, Mr. Yang Jingyao, deputy general manager of Universal Medical, Mr. Meng Fan, president of Yantai Port Hospital and heads of departments concerned.

Cooperate with central SOE for stroke prevention and treatment

Stroke, also known as cerebrovascular accident, ranks first on the death causes list of China. Stroke screening, prevention and treatment have already been a significant national health intervention project. Yantai Port Hospital chose to cooperate with a central SOE to promote the stroke prevention and treatment cause in Yantai City, further implementing the national stroke project.

Universal Medical takes the lead in stroke prevention and treatment. As an advanced integrated healthcare services provider with central SOE background, Universal Medical has cooperated with several Chinese hospitals in stroke projects ever since 2010, covering 23 cities and setting up many benchmarking bases up to now. Stroke prevention and treatment has been supported by all social sectors as a long-term systematic people’s wellbeing project. The initiative “Stroke Project Cooperation among Chinese Primary Hospitals” to deliver clinical diagnosis and treatment, enhance managerial expertise and optimize multi-discipline cooperation model, plays a significant part in development of stroke prevention and treatment in China.

Implement stroke screening for specialized department establishment

Neurosurgery and rehabilitation are the two reputed departments of Yantai Port Hospital, enjoying advantages in medical technology, discipline design, talent pool and inpatient ward utilities. The two departments have already accumulated fair industrial experience, talents and technology, fully equipped to implement stroke prevention and treatment project.

During the project, standardized models will be introduced including pre-hospital health education and screening of risk factors, screening for patients with potential high risk and multi-discipline intervention treatment and visits to the discharged for recurrence management. All these models will surely improve stroke prevention and treatment technology of the hospital, providing support for future establishment of hierarchical treatment system and making preparations for future regional first-aid task.

Mr. Xu Daohua, vice-president of Yantai Port Hospital, said that the hospital signed with Universal Medical for a state-level stroke center integrating treatment and rehabilitation. The project would be a good example for specialized department establishment as well as a good try by Yantai City for conversion from old energy to new energy in healthcare sector. Next, the hospital would make great use of quality resources supported by its parenting company and Zhifu health department, promote stroke project and set a good example to optimize regional resources, making greater contributions in implementing the spirit of the 19^th National Party Congress and the “Healthy China Strategy”!

Cardiovascular diseases kill residents most

Mr. Che Ke, deputy director general of health department of Zhifu District, Yantai City, addressed the ceremony and said, according to the report released by Yantai Disease Prevention and Control Center, cardiovascular diseases kill local residents most. Yantai municipal government released its first “Thrombolysis Map of Acute Stroke” in March 2017, making 27 medical institutions in 14 cities and counties the first batch of “Thrombolysis Hospitals”, with Yantai Yuhuangding Hospital and Yantai Mountain Hospital taking the lead together with Yantai Port Hospital, Laiyang Central Hospital of Yantai, Yantai Hospital of Traditional Medicine, Yantai Affiliated Hospital of Binzhou Medical University, Penglai People’s Hospital, Haiyang People’s Hospital, Zhaoyuan People’s Hospital, etc. The hospital alliance cooperates with 120 first-aid system and establish a cerebrovascular disease first-aid network covering the 7 million Yantai population to enhance aiding capacity and achieve precise treatment.

Up to now, the city has not been equipped with any advanced stroke center as regional treatment, rehabilitation support and quality control center. The stroke treatment alliance of primary hospitals has not started its work, either. The initiative will surely make a good start to a systematic establishment of stroke screening, prevention and treatment center in the hospital and the whole city.
